Birthday pool party
If you are lucky to live in a country with a warm climate, you have to throw your kids at least one birthday pool party. It is very easy to set up, fun for kids of all ages and suitable for both boys and girls!
Here are a few ideas on how to put a simple pool party together:
Drinks & Snacks
A party isn't a party without a birthday cake. For the birthday boy/girl it is a highlight of the day, so make it extra special. Add a few cold drinks and some snacks and you are good to go.
Life's a beach cupcakes: Use any (simple) cupcake and frosting recipe you like. Make the frosting blue by adding some blue food colouring to it. For decorating the cupcakes you need; drink umbrellas, gummy bears, butter cookies, sour mats, gummy ring. Put the frosting on the cupcake. Crush the butter cookies real fine and put them on one half of the cupcake. Decorate one cupcake by putting a gummy ring with a gummy bear inside on the frosting half. And another one by decorating the crushed cookie half with a sour mat with gummy bear on it and a drink umbrella next to it. Instead of making cupcakes you can also easily turn this into a cake.
Splish Splash: A cold drink that is suitable for the kids e.g. lemonade or apple juice
After beach bar: A cold drink for the adults e.g. beer or a Corona
Shark attack: A carved watermelon filled with a fruit salad. Instructions on how to carve the watermelon can be found here.
Gold fish: Fill a cup with Goldfish snacks.
Pool noodles: Fill a cup with sour worms.
Diving sticks: Fill a cup with pretzel sticks.
Beach balls: Fill a cup with cheese balls.
Floaties: Fill a cup with fruit loops.
Decorations
By putting up decorations you are setting the scene for the party.
Colour: Choose a colour(s) that goes with your theme. Buy balloons, napkins, cups, plates, and any other decoration in this colour and decorate your venue with it. Also living in Phuket? You can get great party supplies at The Kids Club in Patong.
Pool / beach toys: Get some pool / beach toys. You can use them for decorations and it is fun the put snacks in.
Party favours: Sunglasses or a beach ball are great party favours that fit within the theme. Hand them out when your little guests arrive so they can have fun with them at the party.
Give aways: Fill a spray bottle with party snacks and add a note to it saying; “Thanks for making my party a splash”.
F&B signs: Put some signs next to your drinks and snacks. You can simply add a border and/or a picture that fits with your theme. On the internet you can also download a 'beach' font and use it to put the text on your signs. (download our menu cards)
Games
Kids don't need much when there is water around. Give them a few pool / inflatable toys and they will have fun for hours. Pool noodles, diving sticks, and water balloons are great items to throw into the pool and can also be used to built a game with e.g exercise with the pool noodles, who can quickest dive up all diving sticks, toss the water balloons around until they pop etc.
