Christmas ornaments making and decorating party
Instead of a cooking decorating party, have a Christmas ornaments making and decoration party around the Christmas period. A great excuse to get together with your friends and get crafty with the kids. And an added bonus is that your guests get to go home with some beautiful ornaments they can put in their tree.
I have decorated the table with green paper, a white plastic plate, a red napkin, a Christmas card with candy cane and a chocolate milk drink for each kid. Read our Salt dough Christmas ornaments post on what you need for the making and decoration of the ornaments.
Snow man cookies a variation on the melted snow man cookie
A packet of cookies
Pack of marshmallows
Icing sugar
Water
Edible pencils
Mix the icing sugar with the water until it is smooth, make sure it is not too runny. Put the mixture onto the cookie. Cut a little bit off 1 marshmallow. As this will be the head of the snowman, it will be slightly smaller than the body. Decorate it with 2 eyes and a nose using the edible pencils. Take another marshmallow and put 3 dots in the middle of it with the pencils. Put the 2 marshmallows onto each other. You can put a little bit of icing sugar in between to make it stick better. Then put the snowman onto the cookie, make sure you do this before the icing gets hard.
Reindeer sandwiches
As there is so much sugar in the snow man cookie, I was looking for a healthy snack to serve. I found the reindeer sandwich idea on Pinterest from A spotted pony. I can recommend you use bread straight out of the freezer as this makes it much easier to cut the sandwiches with a cookie cutter. On my sandwiches I put cheese spread.
Santa Claus fruit sticks
And another healthy snack are the Santa Claus fruit sticks from Moms Saving Money. Very easy and quick to make and they look very cute on the table.
