Easter egg painting party
You have to paint Easter eggs with your kids at least once every year, it is such a nice tradition. Make an event out of it! Invite some friends, set the table and prepare some Easter themed food. And beautiful decorated eggs that everyone get to take home!
Activity
The activity is suited for young and old and there are endless ways to decorate the eggs. Maybe show the older kids a few example pictures to draw inspiration from.
What you need: paint, paint brushes, Easter stickers, hard boiled eggs, bottle caps, glitter, markers, food colouring, water, sponge, white paper, paint palette, basket, cups.
Preparation: Boil the eggs in 10 minutes and put them in a basket for each child. Set the table by putting all the decoration on it. If you don't have a place mat, you can use a piece of white paper instead. It will look good and protect your table from any spills. Mix water with a few drops of food colouring in a cup, prepare a couple different colours.
Play: Give the kids free way on how they would like to decorate their eggs. They can paint them, dye them in the coloured water, write on it with markers and or decorate with glitter or stickers. The bottle caps are perfect egg holders, which makes it easy to paint and dry the eggs.
Drinks and snacks
Instead of the traditional Easter chocolate eggs, serve your guest something else this Easter. Here are 2 fun and delicious ideas;
Rice Krispies Easter egg nests: With a little butter melt the marshmallows. Once completely melted mix the marshmallows with Rice Krispies. Use a ratio of 2 cups marshmallows to 3 cups Rice Krispies for about 8 nests. Put the mixture in a muffin tin to create the egg nest shape and let it cool off. Once fully hard take the nests out of the muffin tin and decorate them with jelly beans.
Easter chicks stuffed eggs: Boil your eggs in 10 minutes, one egg per serving. Remove the shell and cut the top of the egg off, about 1/3. Remove the egg yolk from both parts and put it in a bowl. Mix the egg yolk with some mayo and mustard (2:1 ratio) until it has a smooth texture. Add pepper and salt to your liking. Put the egg yolk mixture in a piping bag and fill the big egg part. Put the small egg part on top to make a hat and decorate with a small carrot and raisin cut to make a nose and eyes.
